PSTD SUSTAINABLE EVENTS CHECKLIST

PSTD recognizes the importance of sustainability and integrates it into various aspects of its operations.  As Sustainability Champions, we promote sustainable practices to our members, stakeholders, and the community.  This includes advocating for sustainable event planning and implementation, a key part of our sustainable talent development efforts.

Events can consume resources and generate waste, which may indirectly contribute to air, water, and land pollution. They also involve diverse attendees with varying needs who may face various challenges before, during, and after events. Events can also face financial challenges if not properly managed.

Our goal is to ensure PSTD events have a positive impact on members, both through knowledge sharing and overall experience. We aim to achieve sustainable events by focusing on environmental, social, and economic considerations.

Goals of the Checklist

This checklist aims to:

  1. Guide and empower PSTD event organizers to plan and execute with a strong consideration of environmental, social, and economic responsibilities

  2. Encourage PSTD members to create a Sustainability Events Checklist for their organization that meets their unique requirements

Scope

This checklist shall apply to events organized by PSTD at a national level, committee level, as well as events organized by external groups in partnership with PSTD.

The checklist will cover the environmental, economic, social, and governance aspects of events organized by PSTD.
