Description of the Talk
The employees’ ability to absorb and apply new
learning is one of the factors to the success of a training
program. At the Manila flagship operation of
International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI),
majority of its employees, mostly port workers, have no
formal education. ICTSI, being a global company, has tapped
the latest training programs available in the market such as
Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Program and the Work Attitude and Values Enhancement
Program or WAVE among others. But will this work for
ICTSI considering the level of education attained by most
employees?
As most of
these programs are in English and the concepts, especially
the examples used, are Western, ICTSI went down to the
grassroots by "localizing" high end training programs
tailor-fit to the Filipino port worker. |
