Description of the Talk
PSTD’s theme is “Breakthroughs in Workplace Learning and
Performance Improvement”. The focus of the speaker’s
topic is on how the training and development function
can contribute value to the organization by providing
programs geared towards strategy
deployment and implementation. The speaker considers this a
breakthrough in workplace learning because learning is
organizationally valuable when it helps realize strategic
intent. “Performance Management” and “Strategic
Coaching” are two examples of programs that HRD can
initiate to help management attain business results through
people. The presentation will essentially focus on two
models: Performance Management and Situational Leadership
(as the strategic coaching model). While the learning
session is designed to explain the model, it will also show
how these models are implemented in the work place to drive
performance improvement.
