Edna
P. Franco embodies the spirit of a true HROD professional
-- and she has done so for the past 30 years, achieving an
illustrious career that spans both the academe and corporate
worlds. Bo peep, as she is known to her colleagues, is
currently the Executive Director of the Ateneo de Manila
Center for Organization Research and Development (Ateneo
CORD). She is also an Assistant Professor at the
Department of Psychology and coordinator of the
M.A. Industrial-Organizational Psychology Program.
Prior to joining Ateneo CORD, she held the positions
of VP, Human Resources and VP, Training and Development
at the Philippine Airlines; Director for Human Resources –
Mandarin Oriental Manila and Gunung Sewu Kencana
(Indonesia); Director, OD Training and Education at Silicon
Systems Inc. (California, USA). She is currently
working on her doctorate in Social-Organizational
Psychology, at the Ateneo de Manila University,
where she also obtained her M.S. Major in Social
Psychology. Her other degrees include a Certificate
in Applied Behavioral Sciences from the University of
Southern California and AB Psychology from the
University of the Philippines.
DESCRIPTION OF THE TALK
This
study was a pioneering effort in obtaining information on
the profile of Filipino trainers today, specifically in
terms of the different roles they play as trainers and the
competencies they need to successfully fulfill those roles.
Trainers from different sectors were surveyed for this
study. The results included a list of distinct roles and
essential competencies. The study also examined the current
profile of Filipino trainers vis-a-vis the ideal set of
roles and competencies. |
